Rockmont Park

Once our city’s oldest neighborhood — now exists as the transformed headquarters for LMC’s recreational opportunities.

Located at the foot of Lookout Mountain, Rockmont Park offers a starting spot for outdoor adventure and recreation. Rockmont Park offers parking and access to The Boulders on Old Wauhatchie, the Guild-Hardy Trail, John C. Wilson Park, St. Elmo Conservation Project and the River-to-Clouds Route.  

All our lands are privately-owned but offered for public use and enjoyment. Please read our rules and regulations and expectations. Private events are not allowed without approval from LMC.

Expectations & Guidelines

Pack out and properly discard of all trash.
No camping.
Fixed hardware is not permitted.
Obey leash laws and maintain control of pets.
Brush off tick marks and excessive chalk.
Minimize erosion.
Keep pads and gear on durable surfaces.
Stay on established trails.
Do not trespass on adjacent private land.
Park in designated spots.
Pay close attention to posted signs.
Respect private property.
Loud music and noises can disturb wildlife, other users, and private landowners.
Unauthorized events are not allowed under any circumstances.
No motorized vehicles, ATVs or ebikes are allowed on LMC property.
Alcohol and drugs are not allowed on the trail or in the park.

These 56 acres of protected land was established using one of the first carbon offset projects in Chattanooga. The St. Elmo land includes a trail system that begins at Glenn Falls and connects to the Guild-Hardy trail.

Guild Trail

The Guild-Hardy Trail was established in 1995 with the help of many people in our community. Once an abandoned narrow-gauge railway, it is now a lovely five-mile woodsy trail with intermittent views of downtown Chattanooga and the Tennessee River.

Established in 2006 to preserve the Cummings Highway entryway to Lookout Mountain, John C. Wilson park was ultimately named after the first leader of LMC.

Sims Garden

Once the beloved garden- for the Sims family, this 4.5 acre-lot on Lookout Mountain had fallen into disrepair and neglect when LMC bought the property in 2022 with a promise: we’ll restore the grounds and gardens.
