The story of Lookout Mountain Conservancy

In 1991, a group of citizens were concerned about overdevelopment near Lookout Mountain.

They organized and acted, purchasing land along Cummings Highway for protection.

The Lookout Mountain Conservancy was born.

Today, we protect 1500 acres throughout 93 miles of Lookout Mountain, one of the most biodiverse regions in the world.

We preserve 119 acres of free public-use land: trails, parks and the largest urban bouldering park in the Southeast.

Maintaining and stewarding it all?

Volunteers and Interns at LMC

We aren't your ordinary Land Trust.

Engage with something great.

LMC is a broad community of, well, everyone: hikers, naturalists, advocates, retirees and high school seniors. We are mechanics, entrepreneurs, IT specialists, preachers and teachers. Young families love us. Climbers do, too.
