St. Elmo Conservation Project

St. Elmo Avenue and 44th Street

These 56 acres of protected land was established using one of the first carbon offset projects in Chattanooga. The St. Elmo land includes a trail system that begins at Glenn Falls and connects to the Guild-Hardy trail.

This preserved corridor in St. Elmo links neighbors to the Lookout Mountain Conservancy trail network while safeguarding woodlands and streams. The protection strengthens wildlife habitat—supporting species like the Red-tailed Hawk and mockingbird—improves water quality, and creates opportunities to expand a connected, wooded trail system for quiet enjoyment across miles of terrain.
