The Guild-Hardy Trail was established in 1995 with the help of many people in our community. Once an abandoned narrow-gauge railway, it is now a lovely five-mile woodsy trail with intermittent views of downtown Chattanooga and the Tennessee River.
Established in 1995, the Guild-Hardy Trail has become one of the most popular trails in the city. The former narrow-gauge railway now is a multi-use trail connecting St. Elmo to Lookout Mountain, with views of downtown and the Tennessee River.
Annually, tens of thousands of bikers, walkers, runners and families enjoy the trail, which links up to dozens of miles of mountain land and noteworthy spots, including Craven’s House, Point Park and the 34-mile River to Clouds Route.
The flat, relatively easy trail offers immersion within Lookout Mountain’s varied and rare ecosystem. Benches and flat rocks offer places to rest. A parking lot is available for cars and bikes.
With all LMC parks and properties, please be considerate. No alcohol or loud music. Dogs on leashes. Leave No Trace. No motorized vehicles, unauthorized parties, hunting, camping or, Heaven forbid, campfires.
